The MIFT active membership is open to any Tamil working/studying in
the health care field in North America.
An active membership is required to attend, speak, and/or to vote in
general meetings of MIFT. It is also required to
take an active role in the functions or projects of MIFT. 

<P>It's the aim of this organization to have all health care professionals/students
who reside in North America to become active members and we request your support
on this matter.

<P>MIFT active membership is divided into 4 categories. They are Full Membership, Student Membership, Associate Membership, and Honorary Membership.

<P><B><U>Full Membership</U>:</B> This is open to any Tamil Medical & Dental Practitioner who is licensed to practice in North America. Full members have the right to attend, speak and vote in general meetings.

<P><B><U>Student Membership</U>:</B> This is open to any Tamil medical/dental students. Student members have the right to attend and speak in General meetings but do not have the right to vote.

<P><B><U>Associate Membership</U>:</B> This is open to any Tamil working in the health field who supports the Institute but does not fulfil the criteria for full membership. These members have the right to attend and speak in general meetings but do not have the right to vote.

<P><B><U>Honorary Membership</U>:</B> Any person who has given distinguished services to advance the objectives of the Institute may be elected as an Honorary member of the Institute for life. This person will be elected at an Annual General Meeting on the recommendation of the Management Committee and will require a two-thirds majority of the members present. Such a member may attend and speak in general meetings but do not have the right to vote.
